It's front-back symmetrical so that the direction of the board can go either way. In addition to sliding forward and backward, even when you want to jump and rotate the board, it can be done so on either side without discomfort.
Also, in order to make it possible to jump high, a lot of carbon ribbons are installed. A large PC plate is mounted under the binding for stability upon landing.
